As of a couple of days ago, I was running into an error when I would play world at war. I play no other games or game sites except on the find a game on the main world at war.
Anyway # 1 problem happened about three days ago, it told me I had a key issue on getting into a game, then I got a fatal error code and it wanted to send a report to Symantec , which I did.
Then about an hour later my computer just re-booted on its own, and then during games as they would switch over to load another map I would get a fatal error code and go back thru the same thing again.
This did not happen all the time just a few times a day, this morning I got on the phone and called a person who understands the backgrounds of computers really well, he had me do something that I have never done to check for virus.
Make sure all windows are closed. and do a update on your virus protection.
THIS IS ONLY FOR WINDOWS XP OPERATING SYSTEM. PLEASE POST IF YOU NEED ANY OTHER SYSTEM AND I WILL POST THE INFORMATION TO FOLLOW
1. Click Start
2. Right click my computer, and then click properties.
3. On the System Restore tab, check TURN OFF SYSTEM RESTORE or TURN OFF SYSTEM RESTORE ON ALL DRIVES.
(If you do not see a system restore tab, you are not logged onto Windows as an Administrator.)
4. Click Apply
5. When you see the confirmation message, click yes
6. Click OK.
Now go close all windows, and open your virus Protection, and run a full scan 5 levels deep, see your info button to find your max levels to go
run your scan, if you find a virus called (Packed.Generic.240)
then you have found the same one that I did, this virus from what I can find out will make you re-boot sometimes and give you a fatal error , plus it is brought into your computer while playing games. I have ran virus protection every day and never found this, until today.
Now once it is found your virus protection will take care of it, then you will need to go back into system restore and restore it back to the way it was before before you go opening up any other programs.
this is just for your information, if your not having any problems then don't worry about it but if you are running into the same as myself and Hewins then maybe try this and see if you find one too.
Thanks
Eric
